Random Shots of Beauty

Guess what?  It turns out that when you run for twelve hours and drive for seven, that doesn't leave much time for blogging at the end of the day.  Accordingly, this weekend's RSOB is a brief one, in hopes that I can get to bed before 1AM:

Marlette Lake in the foreground and Lake Tahoe in the background, as seen from Snow Valley Peak at mile 42 of today's - or is it yesterday's now? - Tahoe Rim Trail 50.

The race's motto is "A Glimpse of Heaven, A Taste of Hell", but I found my experience there to be much more heavenly than hellish.  I'll save the details for my race report which should post later in the week ... but you know how that goes around here sometimes.

It took you seven hours to drive home? Yikes. Combined with the drive there, that would seem to make for a poor driving-to-running ratio. Next time, I suggest running the 100 in order to make it worth the drive.

Nice seeing you out there, kid. Great job! I'm looking forward to the race write-up.

Hey Donald! I saw you finish yesterday! I was in the stands waiting for Eric. I went looking for you after about a half hour, but couldn't find you. Eric said he saw your name on the list a few weeks ago, but I had forgotten till I saw you run by. You looked happy and strong!

Very beautiful! I've read so much about this race and hope one day I can get there.
