Planting a Seed
Actual exchange between my wife and me, shortly after my Vibram FiveFingers review was posted last week ...
Wife: So do you think you could run 100 miles in those things?
Me: Hmm ... I don't know. [pause] Yes. [long pause] Maybe. [longer pause] Um ... I don't know.
Wife: Seems like it would be pretty hard.
Such a thought honestly wasn't on my mind - this is supposed to be my self-imposed hiatus from racing, after all - but it usually doesn't take much to get me pondering things. And just when I think I'm out, some innocuous little comment is all it takes to trigger that familiar feeling of getting pulled back in all over again.
I really wish I had more impulse control sometimes. My crazy brain is going to get me in trouble one of these days.
(Maybe I should start with a 50 ...)

WWBFTD? (What would Barefoot Ted do?)
an ultrarunner taking a racing hiatus? hahahahahahahahahahahaha!
see you at the starting line!
do a trail 50k with them.....
Today I saw a girl sitting and reading while wearing FiveFingers. Thinking I found a fellow trail runner I asked her about the shoes but was deeply disappointed when she said she liked them as "slippers".
I can't help but chuckle at this exchange. What started as an innocent question has such huge implications.
We've had similar conversations at my house. It sure gets the mind to thinking of things it hadn't thought of yet.
